মোঃ শরিফুল ইসলাম ভূঁইয়া, আসাদ : “ভোগে সুখ নেই, ত্যাগেই সুখ”—এই মহৎ নীতিকে ধারণ করে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে জনসেবামূলক কার্যক্রম চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে খাগড়াছড়ি থেকে প্রকাশিত স্থানীয় দৈনিক ‘সবুজ পাতার দেশ’ পরিবার। সেই ধারাবাহিকতায় এবারো অসচ্ছল ও কৃতি শিক্ষার্থীদের পাশে দাঁড়ালো পত্রিকা পরিবার। ১২ সেপ্টেম্বর শুক্রবার পত্রিকার বার্তা ও বাণিজ্যিক কার্যালয়ে আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদান করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে দ্বাদশ শ্রেণির ২ জন এবং একাদশ শ্রেণিতে ভর্তির অপেক্ষায় থাকা ৩ জন শিক্ষার্থীকে নগদ চার হাজার টাকা করে সহায়তা দেওয়া হয়। উপকৃত শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে একজন প্রতিবন্ধী পরিবারের সন্তান, দুইজন এতিম এবং অপর দুই জন অতি দরিদ্র পরিবারের সন্তান রয়েছে।
অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সাংবাদিক দেব প্রসাদ ত্রিপুরা, মোঃ জুলহাস উদ্দিন, মোঃ শরিফুল ইসলাম ভূঁইয়া, আসাদ ও সোহেল রানা প্রমুখ।
এ সময় সাংবাদিক দেব প্রসাদ ত্রিপুরা বলেন, “আমাদের সামর্থ সীমিত, কিন্তু ইচ্ছা সীমাহীন। অসহায়দের পাশে দাঁড়াতে পারলেই আমরা আনন্দ পাই। আমরা পরকালে সওয়াবের আশায় বা জনগণের কাছ থেকে বাহবা পাওয়ার জন্য সহযোগিতা করছি না, বরং মানবতার টানে আমরা এসব কাজ করে থাকি। দেশের বিত্তবানরা যদি আমাদের মতো অনুপ্রাণিত হয়ে এগিয়ে আসেন, তাহলে সমাজে প্রকৃত সাম্য, ভ্রাতৃত্ববোধ ও নৈতিকতার চেতনা জাগ্রত হবে।”
সাংবাদিক সোহেল রানা জানান, পত্রিকা পরিবার বিগত সময়ে শুধু শিক্ষার্থী নয়, অসহায় ও দরিদ্র পরিবারের জীবনমান উন্নয়নে নানা উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করেছে। অর্ধশতাধিক পরিবারকে কম খরচে ছোট আকারে বসতঘর নির্মাণ করে দেওয়া, বহু পরিবারের মাঝে রিকশাভ্যান, সেলাই মেশিন, হাঁস-মুরগি, গরু-ছাগল বিতরণ, সহস্রাধিক শিক্ষার্থীর হাতে পাঠ্যবই, শিক্ষা উপকরণ, স্কুল-কলেজের মাসিক বেতন, ভর্তি ফি, পোশাক ও পরীক্ষার ফরম পূরণের অর্থ সহায়তা প্রদান করা হয়েছে।
এই ধারাবাহিক উদ্যোগ খাগড়াছড়ি জেলায় মানবিক সমাজ গঠনে ইতিমধ্যেই আলোচনার জন্ম দিয়েছে। সমাজের সচেতন মহল মনে করছে, সংবাদপত্রের মতো একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান শুধু খবর পরিবেশনেই সীমাবদ্ধ না থেকে সামাজিক দায়বদ্ধতা থেকে মানবসেবায় অবদান রাখছে—এটি নিঃসন্দেহে প্রশংসনীয়।
উপস্থিত শিক্ষার্থীরা সহায়তা পেয়ে উচ্ছ্বাস প্রকাশ করে বলেন, এই সহায়তা তাদের পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যেতে নতুন উদ্দীপনা যোগাবে। তারা কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করে জানান, ভবিষ্যতে তারাও সচ্ছল হয়ে অসহায়দের পাশে দাঁড়াতে চান।
সচেতন মহল মনে করছে, ‘দৈনিক সবুজ পাতার দেশ’-এর এ ধরনের কার্যক্রম সমাজের বিত্তবান ও প্রভাবশালী মানুষদের আরও বেশি সামাজিক দায়িত্বশীল করে তুলবে। এর ফলে সমাজে দারিদ্র্য বিমোচন ও মানবিকতার আলো ছড়িয়ে পড়বে, যা একটি শান্তিময় সমাজ গঠনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে।
Financial assistance to poor and talented students through the initiative of journalists
Md. Shariful Islam Bhuiyan Asad: “There is no happiness in enjoyment, happiness in sacrifice”—the local daily ‘Sabuj Patar Desh’ published from Khagrachari has been carrying out public service activities for a long time, adhering to this noble principle. In that continuity, the newspaper family stood by the side of the indigent and talented students this time too. Financial assistance was provided at the newspaper’s news and commercial offices on Friday, September 12. At the program, two students of class 12 and three students waiting for admission to class 11 were given cash assistance of four thousand taka each. Among the benefiting students, one is a child from a disabled family, two are orphans and the other two are children from very poor families.
Journalists Deb Prasad Tripura, Md. Julhas Uddin, Shariful Islam Bhuiyan Asad and Sohel Rana were present at the program.
At this time, journalist Deb Prasad Tripura said, “Our capacity is limited, but our desire is unlimited. We feel happy only when we can stand by the helpless. We are not cooperating in the hope of reward in the afterlife or to get praise from the people, but rather we do these things out of humanity. If the wealthy people of the country come forward inspired like us, then the spirit of true equality, brotherhood and morality will awaken in the society.”
Journalist Sohel Rana said that the newspaper family has taken various initiatives in the past to improve the living standards of not only students but also helpless and poor families. Small houses have been built for more than fifty families at low cost, rickshaw vans, sewing machines, poultry, cows and goats have been distributed to many families, and textbooks, educational materials, monthly school and college fees, admission fees, clothing and financial assistance for filling out examination forms have been provided to more than thousands of students.
This series of initiatives has already given rise to discussions on building a humane society in Khagrachari district. The conscious community believes that an institution like a newspaper is not limited to just providing news but is contributing to human service out of social responsibility—this is undoubtedly commendable.
The students present expressed their excitement after receiving the assistance and said that this assistance will give them new impetus to continue their studies. They expressed their gratitude and said that in the future they too want to become prosperous and stand by the helpless.
The conscious community believes that such activities of ‘Daily Sabuj Patar Desh’ will make the wealthy and influential people of the society more socially responsible. As a result, poverty alleviation and the light of humanity will spread in the society, which will play an important role in building a peaceful society.
